Risks and prevention — Scaffolding
Falls from scaffolds are one of the most common causes of serious construction accidents in Québec. The CSTC requires all scaffolds over 3 metres to have complete guardrails (top rail, mid rail, and toe board) and fully planked decks.
Assembly and dismantling must be supervised by a competent person. The base must rest on stable, level ground. Scaffolds over 15 metres or of special design must be engineered.
Inspection is required after erection, after any modification, after events that could affect stability (high wind, impact), and periodically per the company's prevention program.
