Installation of membranes, shingles and roofing. Based on Québec's Construction Safety Code (CSTC) and CNESST standards.
Before work

Risks and prevention — Roofing
Roofing work accounts for a disproportionate share of fatal construction falls. CSTC 2.9.1–2.9.2 and 2.9.4 cover roofs — not only “more than 3 m above grade.” Wet surfaces amplify the risk.
Torches used for bituminous membrane installation create a major fire hazard. CSTC 3.14.1 requires fire precautions near combustibles — not a named hot-work permit in the Code. An extinguisher nearby and a watch after work remain good practice.
Material storage on roofs must be limited and distributed to avoid point overloading. Membrane rolls and propane cylinders must be secured against wind and accidental movement.
