Risks and prevention — Waterproofing

Waterproofing often involves applying solvent-based products or hot bitumen, exposing workers to harmful vapours. RSST sets exposure limits for VOCs and bitumen fumes. Ventilation and respiratory protection are essential in poorly ventilated areas.

Working on sloped or wet surfaces significantly increases slip and fall risk. Anchor systems must be suited to the roof type and slope. Collective measures (nets, guardrails) take priority over personal equipment.
