Risks and prevention — Sheet metal work
Sheet metal work exposes workers to cuts from sharp metal edges, fall risks during flashing and cladding installation at height, and noise from folding and shearing equipment. Cut-resistant gloves, hearing protection, and harnesses on roofs are required by the CSTC.
Sheet metal pieces can act as sails in wind, destabilizing the worker. Large-surface sheets must be handled by at least two people and work suspended in high wind. Folding and shearing tools must be checked daily.
