Risks and prevention — Surveying and layout

Surveyors on site face traffic risks (roadside work), contact with moving heavy equipment, and falls into excavations. CSTC 10.4.1 requires class 2 or 3 HV clothing on or near a road — not a vest mandatory everywhere on site at all times.

Working near overhead power lines with conductive rods or staffs poses electrocution risk. Non-conductive rods must be used near lines. Constant communication with equipment operators is essential for surveyor safety.
