Risks and prevention — Tower crane
The tower crane is the centerpiece of lifting on mid- and large-scale sites. The CSTC and CSA Z248 standards govern its installation, inspection, and operation. Operators must hold a specific competency certificate and complete a full daily inspection before service.
Weather (wind, lightning, ice) must be continuously monitored. The crane must be weathervaned when not in use to allow free jib rotation. Fly-over zones are prohibited above public roads without special authorization.
