Hot work, welding and oxy-cutting. Compliant with Québec's Construction Safety Code (CSTC) and CNESST standards.

Before work

  • PPE worn: welding helmet (proper shade), leather gloves, flame-resistant apron

  • Hot work permit obtained and postedCritical

    ℹ️ Hot work permit must be obtained BEFORE starting

  • Combustibles removed or protected within 11 m radius

  • Fire extinguisher within reach (6 m max)

  • Local exhaust ventilation in place (RSST requirement)

  • Welding screens installed to protect adjacent workers

  • Welding machine inspected: cables, ground, connections

  • Fumes captured at source — extraction functional

  • Respirator worn if ventilation insufficient (P100 filter min.)

  • No welding on containers that held flammable materials

  • Gas cylinders upright, secured and in shade

  • Fire watch present if required by permit

After work

  • Fire watch rounds: 60 min minimum after work endsCritical

    ℹ️ 60 min minimum — extend if combustible materials nearby

  • Gas cylinders closed and protected (cap in place)

  • Area inspected — no residual hot spots

  • Hot work permit closed and signed
