Risks and prevention — Refrigeration and HVAC

Refrigeration and HVAC systems use refrigerants that can cause frostbite on contact and asphyxiation in confined spaces. RSST and the Mechanical Refrigeration Code govern handling of these products. Technicians must hold required certifications.

Rooftop unit installation combines fall risks, heavy lifting (crane), and weather exposure. Electrical connections must comply with the Electrical Code and be made de-energized.
