Risks and prevention — Fire protection

Sprinkler and suppression system installation involves work at height (often on scaffolds or lifts), heavy pipe handling, and brazing/welding generating hot work. The CSTC requires a hot-work permit and an extinguisher nearby.

Hydrostatic tests put the system under high pressure. Fittings must be checked, the area barricaded, and workers cleared during pressurization. Water-filled pipes add significant load to the structure, which must be verified by the engineer.
