Safety checklist — Dump truck inspection

Check tires — pressure, wear, wheel nuts, cuts (all wheels)

Inspect dump body — cracks, tailgate hinges, safety latch

Check hydraulic hoist cylinder — no leaks

Inspect exhaust system — no leaks

Check headlights, marker lights, turn signals, brake lights and reflectors

Check fluid levels: engine oil, coolant, washer fluid

Inspect suspension, axles and leaf springs

Backup alarm functional

Warning triangle, fire extinguisher and first aid kit present

Documents on board: license, registration, insurance, PEVL

Start engine — check warning lights and gauges

Test service and parking brakesCritical

Test steering

Test dump body hoist mechanism — raise and lower

Check tailgate latch operation

Test horn and air horn

Seat belt functional

Check air pressure of pneumatic braking system
