Risks and prevention — Tiling and floor covering

Tiling exposes workers to musculoskeletal strain from prolonged kneeling, silica dust from ceramic cutting, and cuts from broken tiles. RSST governs silica exposure; ergonomists strongly recommend knee pads.

Wet ceramic saws significantly reduce silica dust compared to dry cutting. Leveling systems reduce postural strain. Resin-based adhesives and grout may contain skin sensitizers requiring adapted protective gloves.
