Risks and prevention — Road work and signage
Road workers face vehicle impact risks, machinery upset from traffic, and reduced visibility (night, weather). MTQ Tome V and the CSTC govern construction zone signage in Québec.
Signage plans must be prepared by a competent person and adapted to each setup (stationary, mobile, short or long duration). Class 2 or 3 high-visibility vests are mandatory based on traffic proximity. Crash attenuators and protection vehicles are required on high-speed roads.
