Risks and prevention — Carpentry and woodworking
Construction carpentry exposes workers to falls from joists and roof trusses, injuries from cutting tools (circular saws, pneumatic nailers), and musculoskeletal strain from heavy material handling. The CSTC requires fall protection from 3 metres.
Pneumatic nailers must be used in sequential mode (not contact mode) on construction sites to prevent accidental firing. Eye and hearing protection are mandatory when using power tools.
Prefabricated roof trusses must be braced per the manufacturer's plan upon placement. Inadequate bracing can cause domino collapse of the entire bundle.
